Yup, it's a girl!

I know lots of you know already, but some don't, we found out that we are having a girl! My doctor thought it was a boy, but his bad. When I was 12 weeks I had to get an ultrasound because they couldn't hear the heart beat. Well, the ultrasound showed everything was fine and it was also a clear bum shot. What the doc thought was a prominent manhood ended up being an umbilical cord sticking out.

Fast forward five weeks later and I was telling the ultrasound tech that the Doc thought it was a boy. This tech knows my doc well since he sends all of his patients to this particular clinic. She simply started to laugh, told us it was a girl and that my doctor is never right. She thinks that he needs to use his ultrasound machine to determine if there is a baby and nothing else. :)

The Man still isn't too sure about the determination. An ultrasound technician and a doctor (who actually knows how to use the machine) both verified the gender multiple times but I am still not supposed to buy anything before Christmas and I must save all receipts. (This way the 90 day receipt expiration will not have lapsed before the baby is born.) He's just worried it's going to end up being a boy with a pink room. :)

All is still going well. When the belly is a little bigger we will take pics and post them. Hope all is great in your neck of the woods!

Birthday Celebrations

Many of you know that Gman turned 2 many moons ago, August 14 to be exact. While we celebrated in real life, we forgot to include the blogger life. The day was great with the three of us actually spending the entire day together. No church or work engagements to tear us apart.
We started the morning off eating some seriously delectable dounts. This is a tradition that my family did when I was growing up but i am now thinking of putting the kabosh on it. My tummy hurt well past lunch time for dumping that much sugar in it before "real food" was ever consumed.
Following breakfast we opened presents! I do not know how families wait until that evening or a later birthday party to open presents. Even when it's not my birthday I love watching the presents getting opened. This is the loot.
Present included puzzles, cars, a racetrack for the cars and a dinosaur that he can sit on that he kept calling "dog"
Gman put "dog" on the couch so that they could watch Super Why together. The show is great but better when shared with a friend. (and yup, the dinosaur really is that big compared to him)

We spent the afternoon playing and shopping (a necessity every Saturday, even birthdays) and attending a party thrown by my work. We were able to play with other little kids and take a paddle boat ride. I forgot the camera but I was going to use the party as proof that I had a celebration on his birthday. :) My bad parenting plan was foiled by my forgetfulness. To top off a great day we got some delicious pizza which happens to be the kids favorite food. All in all it was a pretty fantastic day.

Guess Who's Preggers?

Yup, it's official. Baby #2 is on the way. I am 15 weeks today. Sorry, it's a little late I know. Due date is March 2 but thanks to the lovely state of Oklahoma I will probably have a scheduled c-section sometime in the end of February. I am doing great. Didn't really get sick. I only got a little nauteous (sp?) if I let my tummy get empty, so I just never let my tummy get empty. :)Problem solved. Other than that the doc says that the baby and I are doing great.
The first pic was at 8 weeks, the second one was twelve weeks. This baby did a lot of growing in a month. In 3-4 weeks we'll find out for sure if we are having another hilarious boy or a sweet little girl. With a little insider knowledge, we are betting on the boy...

Mexico, Ay, Ay, Ay!

While a few of you know, and many of you don't, we just spent a glorious 8 days in Isla Mujeres (a little island off of Cancun). The trip started off rough with a 3 day fever and general yuckiness for GMan. Mom was a meanie and still made him get in the water simply to cool him off. Look at how sad and depressed he looks.

Luckily he did recover after many many doses of Motrin, Tylenol and time. Once he recovered he was able to discover just how much fun the sand and ocean can be.

We were able to travel with some friends from our ward. Sean and Becky brought their two kids Simon and Hannah. Gman and Hannah became dear sweet friends who had to spend every waking moment in each others presence.

While we were there we went to a turtle farm and saw some pretty cool things. There was a tank filled with TONS of tiny turtles. That was Gmans favorite one to look in. The picture of the single turtle is actually a giant turtle that was bigger than both of the babies. We could have ridden the thing if they would have let us.

The island was so awesome! The water was the most beautiful shade of clear blue, the people were so friendly, and the food was AMAZING! We ate the best fish tacos and guacamole that we have ever tasted. It was so nice to be able to get comfortable on a tiny peaceful island. So relaxing and very fun to get to spend some time with good friends.

ps - Sorry Sean and Becky, we never got a photo of the two of you, but it was awesome to be there in person with you!

Oklahoma Tornadoes - May 10, 2010

One of the many tornados on May 10

May Adventures

Since I haven't posted for the entire month of May I will catch everyone up right now.
Tornados, Hail and Wind, Oh My!!!

I wouldn't normally blog about the weather, that's typically a subject that you bring up with the OB/GYN or someone you once dated, but you have to see what kind of May that we have had. We started with breaking a state record for the number of tornados in one day. Yes folks, 37 tornados touched down in our state on May 10, 22 of those in the OKC metro area. I even had the pleasure of being blown off the road by a smaller tornado. That day was a little frightening but if that is the worst I have to deal with I will be happy. At the end there is a video of another tornado (or three) forming that day.
Less than a week later....we experienced a hail storm like I have never seen. Hail ranging from quarter size to softball size rained down on Oklahoma City. We were fortunate to be spared but there are entire neighborhood where house and car windows were completely smashed through. Some cars have even been scrapped because of the damage done to them internally. Driving around town you will still see cars that look like golf balls because of all of the little divets caused by hail. Ps - hail video below, turn down the volume because there are some expletives but this is my favorite video showing the hail.
Then, finally last night we had a bad enough thunderstorm that the tornado sirens were going off I think simply due to the extreme weather. We got little hails and I would imagine if I didn't live near the top of a hill I would have worried about flash flooding. It has been the CRAZIEST May for weather.

Church

May has not only been crazy, but crazy busy! The biggest news of the month is that The Man was called and set apart as the Elder's Quorum President. David Anderson, you called it my friend. If we lived even remotely close I would get you a lollipop. The calling has only begun and I can see that managing our schedules is going to get pretty difficult.

I have seen my own fair share of packed nights with Visiting teaching, mutual and planning for girls camp, which i leave for in 2 days. I must say that going on the ward level is a 1000 times easier than on the stake level. It's even easier when you are in the YW Presidency and not the camp director. :) I keep telling myself that life will slow down after major events like this but it doesn't. Who knows, maybe after camp it will.

Gman is a total stud at church. After a very stressful first month of nursery the kid is now a ROCKSTAR! He now asks to "go" at the end of Sacrament, meaning he wants to go to nursery. It is so nice for me to not have to worry about him crying and it lets us enjoy class.

Milestones

While Gman is totally awesome and had developed TONS this year, I don't remember what is May and what is not so I will do my best.

Talks - so much more than before. My favorite are still "bye" and "hiiiiii" (imagine a sing song voice). He also says "guck" for stuck and "shide" for outside. His always developing vocab is lowering his frustration levels and makes for a much happier family. We will continue to work on improving beause the "Ma" still doesn't entirely speak "GMan"

Runs - Everywhere. He's getting pretty fast too which is a shame for the mommy.

Climbs - can now climb on the couch by himself. I know some people (aka Lindsay Flemming) are thinking shoot my kids have been doing that since they could walk but you have to understand that I probably have the most cautious kid ever. He doesn't climb, take risks, or anything that might cause injury. you might be thinking lucky me, and I would agree with you.

He would also live outside if he could. I am a mean mommy and make him return indoors for dinner and bed time where a fit is then thrown but that's why I get paid the big bucks. Plus even though I know he would go without food if that meant being outdoors I know that he would be more sad than happy about that decision and I would get thrown in jail which would make me more sad than happy too.

One last thing, and this is entirely to get the priase of every one on the world wide web. For my birthday The Man got me a gym membership (good man) and since then I have been getting up at 4:30 in the am most morning to go. Can I get a woot woot!?! Okay that's it. I will try and post better after camp when my life magically gets slower or maybe I will just have something to actually post about.
